The Puducherry administration is contemplating to extend
Ayurveda and Siddha treatments to Covid-19 patients who desire for it, in
addition to traditional medicines being used as immunity boosters.
The Union Territory aims to explore possibilities of integrative
treatment through the initiative and already identified necessary
infrastructure for the purpose.
“…A wing at the Mahatma Gandhi Government Dental College here
will be allotted for the Siddha /Ayurvedic treatment for Covid-19 patients. A
team of doctors from Puducherry held discussions with officials of the Siddha
and Ayurveda hospitals in Chennai and obtained the details for the treatment
under these systems in Puducherry,” Chief Minister V Narayanaswamy told
reporters.
He said a video conference was also held with the faculty and
doctors of the Siddha and Ayurveda colleges functioning in Mahe earlier and
they too expressed willingness to make themselves available to treat Covid-19 patients.
“Very soon the facility will be available.”
The chief minister urged people to be more cautious and
strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the administration to contain the
spread of the deadly disease. He said the government will bear the expenditure
of treatment that the private medical colleges offer to patients referred to
them by the government.
