The Ayush department has agreed that insurance coverage should be made available for ayurveda, yoga, unani, sidha and homeopathy treatments. This was decided upon in a meeting held with industry representatives and insurance service providers. A notification to this effect will be released soon. The insurance sector has approved the Ayush information document, which includes Ayush system-wise index of diseases requiring hospitalization, indicated therapies/ treatment procedures and average treatment rates for insurance coverage. The sector was represented by insurance regulatory and development authority of India (Irdai), Oriental Insurance, United India Insurance, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance and Apollo Munich Health Insurance.
