All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) hosts walkthrough for C20 delegates

All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), an autonomous institute of Ayurveda under the Ministry of Ayush, hosted a walkthrough on Wednesday (April 8) for the Working Group of C20 on Integrated Holistic Health.

The C-20 is one of the eight official engagement groups of the G-20 forum. It provides a platform for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) around the world to voice the people’s aspirations to the world leaders in G20. The group aims at protecting the environment and promoting social and economic development and human rights.

The delegates, over 400 in number, were shown how an integrated approach to healthcare can be effectively implemented for the well-being of humanity. “We are honoured to showcase a model of integration and holistic healthcare in Ayurveda. To realise the vision of health for all and holistic well-being, the strength of the Ayush system should be integrated into mainstream healthcare”, said Prof. Tanuja Nesari, Director, AIIA.

“The science of Ayurveda is India’s gift to the world. Through C20, the focus is being driven towards holistic healing through an integration of Ayurveda with modern medicine. This will benefit everyone,” said Dr. Anita Bhatia, Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director, UN Women.

The global Ayurvedic market has been growing at an average annual rate of 16.2% since 2015. Ayurvedic products are in demand for their hypoallergenic and sustainable results. The Government of India has been actively promoting Ayurveda globally, including in the G20 countries.

AIIA has also signed an MoU with Amrita Vishwa Vidhyapeetham for cooperation and collaboration in the field of research and academics in Ayurveda. The MoU was signed by Prof. Tanuja Nesari, Director, AIIA, Ministry of Ayush, and Prem Kumar Vasudevan Nair, Provost, Medical Sciences, at the Kochi campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidhyapeetham.

AIIA already has MoUs with the European Academy of Ayurveda, Bernstein, Germany; Western Sydney University, Australia; Graz Medical University, Austria; College of Medical Sciences, UK; London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK, and Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
