Eight best summer drinks as per Ayurveda: Drink no.8 – Lemon-Mint Water

Lemon-Mint Water is one of the most refreshing and Ayurvedic-friendly summer drinks. This simple infusion of water, lemon, and mint is packed with health benefits, helping to keep the body cool, alkaline, and hydrated during hot weather. Ayurveda recognizes it as a natural remedy to balance Pitta dosha, aid digestion, and prevent dehydration.

Lemon is alkaline in nature, helping to balance the body’s pH levels. While summer heat can increase acidic toxins in the body, drinking lemon-mint water neutralizes acidity and reduces bloating, acid reflux, and fatigue. It also improves water absorption in the body, keeping you hydrated for longer.

Mint (Pudina) is classified in Ayurveda as Sheeta Virya (cooling) and is a natural remedy for Pitta imbalances. It helps prevent heat rashes, excessive sweating, and body heat, making it a great addition to summer drinks.

Both lemon and mint are excellent digestive aids. Lemon stimulates the production of digestive juices, while mint relaxes the stomach muscles and reduces bloating. Together, they help prevent indigestion, acidity, and gas, making this drink ideal for gut health.

Lemon is a rich source of Vitamin C, which strengthens immunity and helps fight summer infections, colds, and throat irritation. Mint leaves contain antioxidants and essential oils that prevent inflammation, relieve headaches, and boost energy levels.

Lemon and mint are natural detoxifiers that flush out toxins, promoting clearer skin and better kidney function. The antioxidants in this drink help reduce pimples, acne, and dullness, keeping the skin fresh and glowing.

Consume lemon-mint water during mornings on an empty stomach for detox benefits. It is an excellent choice to keep you hydrated and refreshed throughout the day.

The ideal way to prepare lemon-mint water is to add freshly squeezed lemon juice and mint leaves at room-temperature or slightly cool water. Avoid adding sugar. If needed, use a dash of honey.

Lemon-mint water is a simple yet powerful Ayurvedic summer drink that cools the body, hydrates, aids digestion and boosts immunity. Regular consumption can help you stay refreshed, energized, and healthy, making it a must-have beverage for hot summer days.
