MoU signed to bring new research in the field of Ayurveda

An MoU has been signed allowing scientific testing and research of ayurvedic medicines and therapy to be held in highly modern and well-equipped laboratories. This agreement will enable systematic research on Ayurvedic medicine formulation prepared through methods described in Charak Samhita through modern scientific methods and tests.

The MoU signed between the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), Jamnagar, and the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center (GBRC) is expected to prove to be a new landmark through research in the direction of ancient and modern medicine.

The Institute of Ayurveda Education and Research (ITRA) is the world’s leading institute for research, education, and treatment in the field of Ayurveda. This institute was declared an Institution of National Importance in recognition of its contribution to the field of Ayurveda.

The Gujarat Biotechnology Research Center (GBRC) is an institute established under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, which has highly modern and well-equipped laboratories. GBRC has laboratories for research in the fields of molecular, biology, microbiology, genomics and proteomics

The collaboration between the two premier institutions opens the door to understanding how Ayurvedic medicines and therapeutic processes work and what effects they have on the body at the microscopic level.

The ancient Ayurvedic system and the modern scientific tools – both sides will be covered in the research. Scholars and scientists of both institutions will be able to benefit from the resources available in both institutions to improve the quality and scope of their research and academic activities.
