Ayush Research Council launches project AGNI for mainstreaming Ayurveda practices

The Central Council for Research in Ayurveda Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, has launched the Ayurveda Gyan Naipunya Initiative (AGNI) to promote research for mainstreaming pragmatic Ayurveda practices through scientific validation and evidence-based appraisal.

The project aims to provide an online platform for Ayurveda practitioners to report their innovative practices and experiences in various disease conditions, which the CCRAS will document and publish in consultation with NCISM (National Commission for Indian System of Medicine) for academic purposes.

Depending on the efficacy, further research studies may be taken up on any reported medical practice by developing proposals in collaboration with the Ayurveda practitioner and other relevant institutes/organizations. Once scientifically validated, such practices will be brought to the mainstream to achieve universal health coverage.

The project assumes importance as Ayurveda has found success in managing many new disease conditions, both acute and chronic, which are not described in the classical texts. Such streaks of excellence happening in multiple areas, particularly managing the adverse effects of synthetic procedures, have put Ayurveda on a global platform in a short time.

There are over 500,000 registered Ayurveda practitioners who are mainly practicing in India and project AGNI has been conceptualized to develop a culture of evidence-based practice among them.

The interested qualified Ayurveda practitioners may send the Expression of Interest in the format available on CCRAS Website http://ccras.nic.in (http://ccras.nic.in/sites/default/files/Notices/CCRAS-AGNI.pdf) by 15th December 2023. The email ID is ccrasagni@gmail.com.
