Ministry of Ayush launches comprehensive yoga guidelines for all age groups in collaboration with WHO and BIS

In a significant move towards promoting holistic health and improving the overall quality of life, the Ministry of Ayush, in association with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), World Health Organization (WHO), and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), unveiled a series of technical guidelines and information on Yoga, aimed at ensuring the safety of consumers and provide standardized health promotion Yoga modules for various age-specific groups.

The series of booklets cover a wide spectrum of health needs, catering to people across all stages of life. The booklets include “Yoga for Children,” “Yoga for Adolescence,” “Yoga for Women of Reproductive Age,” “Yoga for the Geriatric Population,” “Yoga for Mental Health,” and “Consumer Information on Proper Use of Yoga.”

The primary goal of these guidelines is to make Yoga accessible to all individuals, irrespective of their age or health condition. The initiative seeks to encourage people to embrace Yoga as a part of their daily routine, ultimately enhancing their well-being and overall health. One of the notable highlights of the event was the emphasis placed on “Yoga Break at Workplace,” recognizing the importance of incorporating yoga into the daily lives of working professionals.

Alongside the launch of the consumer information booklets, the Ministry of Ayush also introduced the Yoga Certification Board (YCB) books, aimed at maintaining standardized practices across various Yoga institutes. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed officials, including Kavita Garg, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Vikram Singh, Director, Ministry of Ayush, and representatives from YCB and BIS.
