More youth suffer from pitta dosha, causing anger, hair loss, and high bp, says BHU study

A recent study conducted by scientists from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has found that a significant number of young individuals suffer from an imbalance in Pitta Dosha, leading to issues such as anger, hair loss, hair graying, and high blood pressure. The study recorded data from approximately 14,000 patients, most of them belonging to the 30-39 age group, a higher proportion of them being women.

Approximately 43 percent of the participants exhibited a predominance of Pitta Dosha. Most of the subjects displayed respiratory-related ailments and heart-related and hormonal disorders. The study also indicated that nearly 59 percent of individuals experienced positive effects within just seven days of undergoing Ayurvedic treatment.

The study also revealed that following the Covid pandemic, there has been an increase in people’s trust in Ayurvedic medicines, with 87 percent of individuals revisiting Ayurvedic clinics for treatment. The findings were presented to the UP Minister of AYUSH, Daya Shankar Mishra.

The study involved data collection from 40 government Ayurvedic healthcare facilities. An impressive 2,200 Ayurvedic practitioners actively participated in the study, contributing to the comprehensive research findings. The scientific team included Vaidya Sushil Kumar Dubey from Ayurveda, Dr. Suyash Tripathi from modern medicine, Aishwarya Jaiswal from psychology, Amit Kumar from Yoga, Dr. Ramanand Tiwari and Rakesh Singh.

To ensure the effective implementation of this research at the grassroots level, the scientists recommended establishing a well-equipped center, either at BHU or the Government Ayurvedic College in Varanasi, that integrates all necessary resources.
