The Ministry of Women and Child Development is turning to Ayurveda to make nutritional supplements for women and children on a large scale.

With this end in view, the Ministry has set up a ‘Nutri-Garden’ at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi. Inaugurating the garden, set up as part of the month-long ‘Poshan Maah-2021’, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani said that there was urgent need to provide tap into the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda to address the nutrition requirements of the nation.

Ms. Irani called upon scientists to publish scientific data on Ayurveda, so that the world can understand and appreciate the huge contributions it can make to lift the health and well-being of whole populations.

Addressing the function, Minister of State for Ayush and Women and Child Development Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai underlined the importance of nutrition in the life of a mother for bearing healthy progeny and said Ayurvedic interventions could go a long way in ensuring this.

Plants having nutritional benefits were distributed among patients and health care workers at the function. Information brochures on select plants with nutritive values were also distributed to the public to make them aware of their nutritional importance.

Classical Ayurvedic recipes with high nutrition values from various States were also displayed at the venue.
