A bad breath can most often dent a
person’s confidence, if not, make him/her keep aloof from the social circle of
relatives and friends.
However, the health consequence of
‘halistosis’ or smelly breath condition is much severe as it can lead to a
whole lot of diseases, that affecting gums to teeths to increased risk of
chronic illnesses like diabetes.

The underlying causes are germs and
plaques in the mouth. No matter the quantity and quality of ones’ food intake,
the health of teeth and gums can be ensured only by practising good oral
hygiene on a regular basis.

Even failing to brush your teeth
twice a day or not washing or rinsing your mouth with fresh water after every
meal could result in building up of oral germs and bacteria in the mouth. Soon
one could notice plaque, a thin, soft and sticky film of bacteria, settling
right there on top of the enamel of our teeth. Over a period of time, this tends
to cause serious tooth decay and ultimately leads to cavities, gum diseases and
gingivitis.

The plaque may eventually turn into a
thick layer called tartar, causing swelling and bleeding of gums while
brushing. The bones surrounding gums can get weak and it could get swollen,
resulting in bleeding and loss of teeth.

Use of herbal mouthwashes is very
effective to ensure good oral hygience and keep all these worries at bay.
Besides they keey you refreshed and confident.

Herb-based mouthwashes are generally
made of plant-based ingredients such as peppermint oil or leaf; clove oil;
eucalyptus oil; rosemary leaf and cinnamon. These boosts oral health by killing
germs and reducing bad breath. No artificial colours or synthetic materials are
used in making these mouthwashes.

The presence of healing herbs are
what makes them naturally antibacterial and antibiotic. Unlike their commercial
counterparts, these herbal mouthwashes do not contain any hidden, harmful
chemicals.

It is strongly recommended to do a
herbal mouth wash rinse on a daily basis. These can have long term benefits
too; for example, their anti-microbial property even cleans dental roots over a
period of time.

You can prepare a herbal mouthwash at home
too. All you need to do is to take a cup of water, choose any of the oils from
cinnamon, tea tree, wintergreen or clove, and add approximately 20 drops to
distilled or boiled water. Allow it to cool and the solution can thereafter be
kept in a glass jar. Use it as and when you feel the need for a refreshing
rinse. Make sure to shake it well just before use.
